Hey guys,
About to start my first upper build. I have in hand a stripped flat top demo/blem upper from BCM and should soon receive an 18 inch mid length barrel(threaded) from Black Hole shortly. Was thinking of getting either the upper receiver vise block from Bushmaster or the upper receiver vise block from Brownells. Was wondering if anyone thinks there is an advantage to one or the other besides price. (Brownells is about $15 more) Also need to get an armorers wrench and/or the PRI 5 prong wrench. The Smith Enterprise armourers wrench from Brownells has caught my eye. Have read good and bad about some others and am asking for input here. Was also gonna get a strap wrench to put a LaRue free float handgard on. May rethink that tho and go with a DD omega. Was going to forego the torque wrench but get the $5.99 gas tube alignment tool. Any input on a low-profile gas block would be appreciated also.
Hope this is not to much asking in one post but l am going to purchase the required tools in the next couple of days and was wanting to hear what ya'll had to say in regards to these tools.
Have been lurking on here for quite a while and just now joined. Lots of info on this site. Just looking for input from some of you that have experience doing this.
Thanks

The things I need most is a punch set brass and steel also a AR-15 arumors wrench it has all the cut for all the upper end bolts and nuts like the barrel nut then a shop vise and the upper blocks for an ar so you can clamp it within your vise... Youll need these when installing the barrel also if you dont have your sights installed then Brownells pin puck is a very handy thing to have around,,

If you get a clamshell type receiver block, you will have to modify it for a LaRue rail install. I like the DPMS Panther Claw.

I don't think the gas tube alignment tool is necessary. Never used one and never needed one.

Look at Daniel Defense and LaRue for gas blocks.

If you are assembling an upper from scratch, why would you do that?
