well after my first lower build have been thinking about using screws in stead of roll pins. like this. -http://shop.si-defense.com/PhotoGallery.asp?ProductCode=SI+SS-BOLT-CTCH-SCRW
i have spoken with them and they said that it's the same size as the standard bolt catch pi just with threading but the sales girl couldn't give me the thread size and pitch and am wondering if any one has used this before.

I'm of the "If it's not broke" camp, so I haven't used anything like this. Why do want to upgrade? Are you having any problems with your pins now?

The only benefit I can see it that they might make installation of said pin very slightly easier.

I don't want to risk breaking the tabs that part sits in. My luck would be the tap would enlarge the hole and cause a break. Hard to fix when it breaks off.....

Screws are more likely to break than a roll pin. Roll pins have a certain 'flex' to them, that a hardened screw does not.

Don't jack with it. Put the roll pin in, and forget about it. If you're having difficulty installing the roll pins, try getting a coiled roll pin, rather than a split pin. They go in much easier...

The threaded pins are for DPMS type .308 lowers . I use the ones from SiDefence because the ones from DPMS are crap & I have had two of the threaded parts disintegrate on me . You can't see close enough in the photo below ,but all the threaded portion , that is left on the pin is cracked . I was lucky to get it out .
The SiDefence one a S/S , even though they are just cut down& turned long set screws , they seem much better than the ones I have gotten from DPMS.
