I just built my 3rd rifle, I built an 18" 6.5 Grendel using an Alexander Arms barrel+bolt and upper. I am also using C Products Grendel magazines which I think may be the cause of the issue. I noticed after cambering a few rounds that it's leaving 2 dents in the shoulder of the case neck. Does anyone know what might be causing this? I would like to be able to reload my brass. Thanks gents.

Its leaving the dents on rounds you just chamber and manually eject?

As long as it chambers the round, and goes off, minor dents shouldn't be a problem.  Any dents in the brass will be ironed out in a hurry when the shot goes off.  If you think its a mag issue, try another mag.

or

Is it leaving dents on the fired and ejected rounds?

If this is the issue, its pretty common.  It may be just how it throws them out.  You can "tune" the ejection of an AR...there was a thread a while back on tuning where they land, I'll see if I can find it.  Even so, small dents in the brass are not a problem when reloading.

Can you post some pics?

Need to know if it's denting while ejecting the spent round or is it denting while chambering?

If they are small dents, it shouldn't be a problem. I've seen barrel extension lugs leave 2 small dents on the case neck during ejection.

if we're thinking of the same thread..here's the graphic showing where the empties go, and how to tune so they go where you want

I have not fired it yet, just chambering rounds from the magazine to check function. I normally wouldn't mind the dents but I am looking for consistent pressure/velocity and to reload the brass. I'm sure the dents may pop out after discharging the round but it still bugs me because none of my other rifles do this. I only have two magazines, one five rounder and one 25 rounder. The 5 rounder dents are much smaller compared to when I chamber a round from the 25 round mag. The dents are on the bottom side of the brass which leads me to think that the shoulder is slamming into the M4 feed ramps.

Sorry about the rotated pictures, Image Shack kept doing it for some reason.
