Necessary?  No.  If, however, you have pins walking it certainly ends that.  Of course, new pins might as well.

Only if walking pins are becoming a problem.  I asked the same question in December and was told to save my money.  +1500 rounds without a problem.

Cheers,

I needed them on one of mine when the hammer pin decided to walk out.  As long as everything in your build is in spec, you should be fine without them though.

I just had an "RRA" LPK hammer pin disintegrate on me.   It sheared at one of the grooves and kept the hammer in place just enough to shoot (and malfunction) repeatedly.  The part that broke off is little bits of chunk now.

If the KNS pins are hardened or SS - it might also be worth the upgrade?   People spend $50 on colored handguard protectors on a $2-300 uber-spec rail (to hang a single flashlight) that matches their $200 whiz-bang adjustable sniper stock on their 16" gov-profile setup with a $450 4MOA red dot; run mil-surp ammo through the latest n' greatest plastic mags (with covers!) - also color-matched to the stock - but then say a $20 KNS upgrade isn't worth it.

I see stainless pins alone for $4 at midway and plan on getting those instead.   My pins tend to walk a little in a few receivers - but I have always bought the $55-60 LPK's in the past and it might just be a quality control issue....   Not a huge deal - but it might just be annoying enough for me to go with a KNS set...

anyway, YMMV.

My trigger pins were constantly walking out. KNS solved all of my problems.
