I just picked up a Colt Pre-Ban lower for my build and wanted to know if I should strip it and rebuild or not.  It looks like its in great condition, but not sure how to determine if it needs to be done.

Lower looks to be in very good condition, trigger has no creep...what else shoud I look for?

Thanks for the help in advance!

If it ain't broke....

If it looks or you know it is factory original, I wouldn't mess with it until it needs to be fixed.

Or you could rebuild it with Colt parts.

I have a pre-ban Colt which I did shoot before and during the ban...I've sort of retired it now and wouldn't change it from OEM unless something broke.

A pre-ban Colt, why would you want to mess with it?

I wouldn't mess with it unless your having some kind of issue with it.

Your right I wasn't planning on it, but wanted to see what the concensus was.  Does the fact that it was a 7.62x39 make any difference?  I plan on using a BCM 5.56 upper with it.

Are Colt lower parts kit hard to come by?  Can you suggest a forum dealer for one.

Thanks,
