So I finally got around to my first build and encountered a few issues that I have not read about.
Parts List: Essential Arms Lower Stag LPK Bill Springfield worked trigger assembly 1. When I installed the bolt release, it was very tight. I check my other lowers and most of them were very free moving. I ended up taking one from a Delton LPK and it worked much better. Is it common for them to be fairly tight? It would not fully reset without me pushing the top (along the mag well) back down. 2. When I installed the safety switch, the back of the trigger assembly blocked the safety hole by ~ 0.5 mm. I had to take the trigger and hammer pins out, push the safety switch into position, re-install the trigger pin and hammer pin. It seams to work ok and passed the trigger check, but this seams pretty abnormal. I will take it to the range this weekend for a full test, but hope to get some pointers for my next build. Sorry no pics (-10) |

For the bolt release, it's probably a tolerance stack issue. It should move freely under spring pressure.
Either get a different release or modify it. Don't modify the lower, as it is more expensive to replace if you goof up. A few swipes with a fine file should help the release. Paint or cold blue as necessary. |

Thanks for the feedback....I Any one have issues with putting in the safety selector switch? I guess I can always check the safety selector switch hole after installing the trigger pin, but this seams like an abnormal occurrence. ![]() Was the hammer cocked back when you installed the selector? The bolt catch could have a small "bur" on it or something .. did you "dry" fit it before you hammered in the pin? |

What I would do is completely disassemble the FCG, including the safety. Check the parts visually, make sure the disconnector spring is in correctly, and reassemble following the links in the BIY forum. Be sure the FCG area in the lower is clear of debris. |

Look close at how the "fire control group" and how the trigger, hammer and safety selector interact. When the hammer is uncocked the distance from the hammer pivot pin to the bottom radius of the hammer is such that it tips and holds the rear of the trigger ridgged up into the slot in the safety selector shaft (causing it to block the selector hole and interfer with loading the saftey selector). This does not allow safety selector to be rotated out of fire position. When the hammer is cocked the front edge of the trigger snaps up into a notch in the hammer, allowing the rear of the trigger to drop down and allows the selector to rotate so that the full diameter locks the trigger into a ridgged position and locking the hammer in safe position. |

Is this a Bill Springfield trigger with a small tac weld on the front and back for over travel and pretravel? Most likely the tac weld is holding up the back of the trigger up a little and making the safety difficult to install. Thanks for the input.....I think this is the answer. I looked at my other LPK and Bill Springfield trigger and the little tac weld looks to be enough to prevent it from clearing the safety selector switch. I will have to watch this in my next build. I did make it to the range and tested the lower. It worked fine, the trigger was really nice for both 5.56mm and 22LR. There was a minor issue with the bolt catch, but I think it was the MagPul mag,,,,,,, Thanks for everyones feedback. |

I drop it in place first. Put the safety in then go back and put the trigger pin in. Works fine, just a different route to building the lower. All bolt catches are not equal - some are wider than others. If one doesn't fit I usually just try a different one until I find the right fit with no rubbing/binding. Good luck with the rest of your project. |
