Just had a upper come in and I went to mate it to my lower of the same manufacturer but the fitment was very tight and I couldn't by hand get the front takedown pin in.  I gave it a few firm taps with a rubber mallet and it went in.  The back take down pin slides right in no problem.  Will I be ok and it will loosen up after some rounds through it or should I have not forced it?

put some oil on that pin, that should help.
usually it will loosen up after some rounds.

my colt was very tight out of the box but now there's some play between upper and lower

it'll loosen up a little as the finishes smooth out a bit as you use it..you lubed the pins first right?

My first build was just the opposite.
It had an ever so small amount of wiggle, just noticable.
Accuwedge snugged things up nicely.
