Instead of using a crush or peel washer is it okay to install a muzzle device with blue locktite?

Thoughts, opinions? Install is not on a duty weapon

I use red, but yes, if it doesn't require indexing.

Thoughts

Most muzzle devices can't thread far enough onto a standard thread so most put something in that space anyway.

What is the opposition to putting a washer in there?

Are you installing a timed or untimed type of muzzle device?

timed..its a rainier arms xtc..honestly it matches the barrel profile about perfect and there isnt even enough space to put a piece of paper between the device and the barrel shoulder.  I dont think its going to go anywhere on its own as its good and tight

what muzzle device? I know the smith vortex just calls for hand tight.

Just put it on tight and leave it then would be my suggestion.  Loctite is just a big pain when later on you need to remove or swap out the muzzle device.

I've seen a muzzle device back off when my buddy was shooting.  The final shot and the muzzel device went into the bushes along the range.  Not sure where the bullet went.  Luckily, no one was hurt.  Now I always put something on the threads, locktight etc....

Safety first

Im going to send some rounds downrange as part of T&E but I seriously doubt its going to go anywhere even after 10k rounds.  Even if loosens a full 180 degrees there is still almost a full inch of barrel threads that its making contact with.  I was just curious and making sure that this wasnt a big no-no.

If it indexes that well without one, and its snug, loctite should be fine. It also means you are lucky, play the lotto!
