Community, I am looking at purchasing the barrel for my first build. I have done much research on this site and others for many months about the whole process, but I am hesitant to buy a barrel. I thought I would buy a Sabre Defense 16" fluted barrel, pictured here from Rainer Arms http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=1636. I am concerned about the price in relation to quality. If anyone has any input on the quality of this barrel or maybe other suggestions it would be much appreciated.
This will be a general purpose rifle by the way, accuracy is wanted but then again this will not be a benchrest gun, if you know what I mean. Thank You. |

Saber makes a pretty nice barrel, and i'm sure that one is just fine. Price is about normal (maybe even good) for a stainless barrel with fluting. If you are looking for a stainless, middy, fluted barrel, i'm sure it will do just fine. Personally, i would go with something moly steel and chrome lined, for a "general purpose" gun, and spend the saved money on AMMO, but you are building YOUR rifle, not mine. Have fun. |
