Alright so i'm a little new to the whole building an AR game and i'm lookin for some wisdom.  I'm building a rifle thats mainly gonna be used for varmints (prairie dogs and coyotes) so i'm thinking a 20" barrel will be my length of choice.  I also want to keep the price as low as possibly while still maintaining a decent level of quality.  For the price, i'm thinking I will use a DSA lower unless there's any objections? And the upper is where my main question is.  I've done some research and the general consensus I see on here is that BCM is a little better quality stuff than del-ton and I was thinking a custom 20" upper from del-ton might be used OR buy a BCM upper and mate it with a seperately ordered barrel (again, input on manufacturer?)  Obviously I probably won't get a tack driver because of the somewhat low budget build but I would like decent accuracy.  Any info/help will be very appreciated. Thanks

(Oh, and a recent thought that has started to float around is possibly a .204 upper...any thoughts?)

Check out the RRA stainless bull barrel uppers for doing that sort of thing on a budget.

I had a RRA 24 SS Bull - Varmint rig for a while.  Insanely accurate.  Only sold it as I can only get 200 yards in these parts.  It can be effective way past that range IMO.

alright, so RRA is better than del-ton, does anybody know how a RRA barrel would compare to say a DPMS barrel?  Also, i'm guessing E.R. Shaw is a somewhat low quality barrel due to the fact its the barrel on the cheaper options such as model 1 sales, is this correct?

Check out the coyote rifle uppers from rock river. I don't own one, but have shot one that one of my friends owns it's awesome. Also, I'd stick with the .223 because ammo is easier to find and cheaper.

alright, now for the next question...apparently the RRA barrel is the way to go according to you guys so, do you think I would keep the accuracy and reliability if I built a BCM upper/bcg with the RRA barrel?

BCM BCG > RRA BCG.
