Any one have any experience with DPMS oracle build kit and how it might differ from the sportical kit?  The item description at midway is vague, is it the lack of FA on the sportical? Is either one worth a second look?

I think the only differences are the addition of a forward assist, the brass deflector and the ejection port cover.

Why the interest in DPMS? I have an AP4, my least favorite AR out of 8.

The only difference between the two is the upper receiver used on each. The Sportical has a smooth sided Lo-Pro upper and the Oracle has the standard A3 upper with dust cover, shell deflector and forward assist.

I've got an Oracle LR-308 and love the thing. DPMS makes good stuff anyone can afford, and they sell ALOT of it. The complaints lodged against them are an inevitable side effect of their success due to the sheer volume of items produced and sold each year.

As far as the difference, I believe the other replies to your question are correct.  The Oracle is basically a Sportical w/ a forward assist, deflector and dust shield.  I have the Oracle model w/ a YH free-float quad rail.  I I took it too the range for the first time last weekend and put 40 rounds of American Eagle 62grain ammo thru it w/ no issues.  I then put 20 rounds of PMC 55 gr thru it; again w/ no issues.
