I have the carry handle/sight  pulled all the way back to T1. It is overlapping the charging handle a bit but is this correct?

Second, there appears to be a little crook in sight assembly, is this normal?

move it ahead one "T" mark. All "A2" sights are a bit canted. Yours may be a little extreme, but normal.

Move it 1 notch forward and they all have that cant.  I've seen some a lot worse than that.

the front edge of the carry handle should be flush with the front face of the upper receiver

Ok. So the cant is normal. But, how does this affect accuracy?

Would it be a bad idea to snip a link off that detent spring so everything would line up a little better? How much, if any, would that improve accurate sighting?

Doesn't affect it at all.  It's spring pressure putting the same degree of cant every click so it's consistant.  In an extreme case there can be issues, but yours won't have any. I'd leave it alone.  My M16a2 I qualified on the range with at USMC bootcamp was way way worse than that and I qualified expert with quite a few points to spare.  Don't worry about it.

Its installed just fine and normal on A2 rifles.  Some are tighter than others.

Fulton Armory National Match rear sights have a vertical pillar installed to perfectly align the sight but is not needed else wise.

Just looked at mine and it has no cant. It is a mil spec carry handle from MandA parts. Non national match. If it is "normal" thats fucked up. IMO.

Mine is a Mako or other no-name from Cheaper-than-Dirt and it isn't cocked like that. It has been a lot of years, but I don't remember any of the issue M16s I had with cocked rear sights.

Meh... Still, as long as you can zero the rifle, who cares?

Move the carry handle forward one notch. As far as the cant, read this thread...

Thanks so much for your input guys.

When it comes to our rifles, we all seek perfection, and this could be a major worry for new AR owners such as myself. It was for me.
