I'm building an SBR and I woould like to have the suppressor start inside the handgaurd. Much the same as the HK MP5SD.
I have a YHM 12 inch full float gaurd and I had been planning on using an 11.5 inch barrell but I'm wondering if a 10.5 might be better (for the look/fit) I'm trying to accomplish. So, here's the question. Where do you meassure from and too? I assume one end would be the very end of the barrel (minus the mount), does the barrel start at the flange where it mounts to the receiver or????? Mike |

YHM rifle length forearms are 12.5” (w/ jam nut), but in any case the forearm’s barrel nut essentially starts at the same place on the receiver as the measuring point for the barrel per my calibrated eyeball.
With an 11.5” barrel, the end of the barrel should be about 1” under. You did not say what suppressor you have and there are several mounting methods so you will have calculate where the end of the can’s body is in relation to the end of the barrel. ETA: In a standard barrel it would be the bore plus the chamber. If you have a permanently attached muzzle device it would be included in the measurement. Note the barrel extension on an AR barrel is not included in the measurement. |
