Could someone give Me a quick run down on the difference between a 16" mid length upper and a 16" M4 carbine upper.?. did a search and it did not return anything.

ok, how does the longer gas system effect the function? this is just going to be a gun range plinker/ SHTF gun.

A mid length gas system is a little smoother, and easier on the bolt.
I have fired both on the same day, hard to tell.

It will reduce/smooth the recoil somewhat ... couple the 16" mid-length barrel with a FA BCG and the right buffer and you will have one smooth shooter .. IMHO .. YMMV

Well, just keep in mind that it's pretty hard to screw up, and if you don't like how it comes out, it's easy to change.
