Hey guys,
I was thinking of putting together a new build that would be a long range/ precision ar-15... the specs are: Spikes Tactical Lower Del-Ton 20" rifle kit with chrome lined barrel and flat top upper in 1x9 twist ( What length handguards come on these?) I will add a larue free float handguards in the length that is necessary... I will put a 6-9 harris bipod on the ff handguards from larue I have a nikon prostaff 3x9x40mm that i want to buy a larue qd mount for... I will probably buy a magpul prs or ubr stock at some point down the line... but keep the a2 buttstock that comes with the kit on for now What do you guys think about this build and will it be a good combination of parts.. Thanks in advance for the help and advice. Stephen S. |

Well, for a precision barrel I'd go with a faster twist- 1/8 or 1/7 for heavier bullets. I'd also go with a stainless precision barrel, or something similar rather than a chrome/moly chrome lined barrel. Other than that, sounds pretty good. Check out superior barrels, that's what I have on my precision setup and I like it quite a bit, very reasonable prices too if that matters. |

| Why a larue rail? They're pretty heavy and yo ucould grab the new MOE rifle length rail for a TON cheaper. Pick up a rail to screw onto that and a bipod. You could PROBABLY get that entire setup for the $300+ that LaRue rail is going to get you.....and maybe someone will give you a free dillo. |

An MOE is not free float and he's building a precision upper, so he should free float it. Yes, Larue is expensive, but it's also some of the best. I bought a Larue 11" on the EE for $175. |
