I have the standard AR charging handle that came with my Spikes Upper. When I shoot I get a little gas back in my face and it is not really pleasant. I was looking at the BCMGUNFIGHTER and the PRI Gas Buster Charging Handle as possible solution to this issue. Am I correct in thinking that both will stop this gas blowback. If I am is one beter than the other. If not are there any beter options I should look at?

The PRI has gasbuster in it's name

All joking aside, they're both great. As soon as one of my handle's starts to break or show any bending I'm buying a bunch of BCM's for my rifles.

the point is one handed operation of the charging handle w/o causing damage to the handle, latch, or rifle.

I guess my question then is if the BCHGunfighter will also reduce gas blow back?

No, the BCM Gunfighter won't help with the gas blowback.

There is a thread on here somewhere that talks about using some red silicon gasket maker to make your own gas buster charging handle.

Get the BCM gunfighter and do this to it. Cheap and very effective.

Props to USMC03 for the write up.

It's even better if you use BLACK silicone...

Also, lay off the Es man.

It's a "Charging Handle"

Yea he used red to show what he was actually doing.  Obviously most would use black.

So the advice here then is to get the gunfighter handle and do the modification? If that is the "best" course of action then what mod of the gunfighter is best and what size latch?

That is what I would do.  I like the Mod4 (which is the medium size).

You got to get used to the smell of the powder if you want to shoot AR-15.  I have PRI gas buster.  It helps a bit but you will not eliminate it 100%.  Shoot outdoor or shoot in a well ventilated range.  PRI with the big latch and BCM helps more in your modern way of charging than blocking powder smell.  There are some tricks in this website that you can reduce some gas blowback by blocking some ports on your standard charging handle.  You will only care about it in the beginning.  After a while you'll not notice it.

the advice is you can do it to any standard charging handle, a gunfighter was used as an example.  Try using what you have first, unless you just want to spend to $.
