| I am looking for a barrel for my first ar. I would like a 1 in 7 twist, any suggestions on a good quality barrel? |

Wilson. I agree with this! I got a Wilson match barrel for free from my uncle. So far it is the most accurate barrel I've shot through. Yesterday at 150 yards I was doing MOA with 55 gr on a 1:8 twist, un-sighted scope and not much of a steady hand/trigger finger. |

what are you planning to do with it?
hunt coyotes? shoot for groups at long ranges? plink at the range? HD / tactical training? IMO, there are only two options when it comes to barrels: stainless steel for precision, chromelined for everything else for a general purpose AR, I'd go with one of the BCM barrels. - 4150 CMV - Chromelined bore/chamber - M4 feedramps - F height FSB - 1/7 twist, 5.56 chamber |
| An idea of the budget your willing to work with might also narrow down the selection. You can pick up decent to good quality barrels around $150, many of them being great barrels. You can also drop $700 and up on high end barrels from makers like Hart, Krieger, Lijja, and Broughton (by the way, I spell for shit, so don't be suprised when somebody comes along and corrects me on the names). Are you looking to build a $4000.00 high power contender, or a good $2000.00 varmit destroyer, or a $800.00 paper puncher? |

I have a YHM in 1:7 16" chromelined and it was $195.00 from RainierArms.com.Its a great barrel for the price. I have this same one, and it's a damn good barrel. EDIT: $1000 budget for a barrel? Well damn, shut my mouth. +1. $1300 you can get an mk12 upper from BCM. you want groups, there ya go. |
