i know that i am going to get many different responses and opinions about this....I posted in the general discussion forum last night, but i am either looking to go into the marines or local police after college graduation (leaning a little more toward LE).  I just bought an M&P15 in august, which was my first AR and now that i have shot it learned a little about it, seen other peoples, I think i want to go ahead and build one set up the way i want on it.  I would most likely keep it in my patrol car with me and want to have a pretty much traditional AR look to it.  anyone have nay good suggestions on a good upper/lower/part kit/bolt combo for this? anything i need to be aware of?

Thanks...

p.s. i am planning on buying a lower in the next few weeks and slowly building it when i have time and money...looking to spend about $1200 (before optics)

I would wait until you know what you're allowed to carry.  They may only let you use what they issue you.  That is how my current department is.

Yeah I thought about that and am actually waiting to hear back from one of my buddies on patrol. I am pretty sure you can carry it as long as you qualify with it. I know anything besides Remington 870s have to be approved (of course my tactical shotgun is a mossberg500) and I know they have basically all makes in service right now.
