Looking at a CMMG 20" flattop upper right now, but have no experience with them. I was wondering how CMMG uppers compare in quality to other brands, and what brands would you put them on the same level as?

| with the exception of the LE models they have 1/7 twist, chrome lined, parkerized under front sight,M4 feed ramps, and F marked front sight, all of which are desired. I believe they only do batch HP(high pressure)test on the barrels, but all are MPI( magnetic particle test for flaws) tested. They also don't use the same type of steel that the military uses, which is a minus. Their bolts are supposed to be MPI tested, but not marked and most have the weaker extractor spring with blue insert. The main complaints I hear are about poor customer service and canted front sights, neither of which I've had a problem with. I would put them in the same league as Stag, RRA, & Bushmaster. Unless you plan on running your gun extremely hard or full auto, I think you will be happy with CMMG, I have two of the LE models and have no complaints with either. |
