is there a way to repaint my ar to cover the nicks and scratches with the gray factory paint out of like a spray can? where to get??

Usually all the aluminum parts on an ar are anodized, and all the steel parts are parkerized from the factory.

Any one know which one would match a grey pre ban colt?

You can find instructions, and color charts here.

You need a small spray gun or air brush, or they have a spray bottle with propellent that is fairly reasonable.

Yes, check Duracoat for Colt Gray. It matches well and hold up.
