Does barrel length start at the barrel extension or the back of the chamber? I'm putting together my parts list for a build and trying to decide which hand guard to use to completely cover 10.5 or 11.5 barrel.

Close the bolt and stick a wooden dowel or even a cleaning rod, CAREFULLY down the barrel. Put your thumb just where the dowel comes out of the barrel and measure that. You'll have your answer. that doesn't help if he's "putting together a parts list" for a build. |

An 11" rail should cover everything but the threads on the 11.5" barrel, 10" rail for the 10.5" barrel. Barrel length starts at the bolt face which is going to be slightly behind the back of the chamber. |
