A buddy of mine has helped me out and to repay him I am pickup up a stripped lower for him. So far I found the following in my local area:
Del-Ton Yankee Hill Mega DPMS Is any one of these better than the rest? He is looking at getting either a Del-Ton or a M1S kit so I am leaning towards the Del-Ton. Is it good to go? Thank you in advance, CSP |

I have read everything I can find in the "Build it yourself" thread and have visited ALL of my local shops for research and Mega is highly regarded here so much so it was my choice for upper and lower on my current first build and love the quality, fit and workmanship.

Out of the 4, I have only owned a DPMS and Yankee Hill.
I don't think you could really go wrong with any of them. I have 3 YHM lowers and think they are great, they all went together without issue. I haven't had a real current DPMS, but the older ones (like all the DPMS stuff I have had) don't have real durable finish on them. I would go YHM, Mega, others........again, I doubt any of them will be bad....which is the cheapest? |

Honeslty i held a DPMS a STAG a S&W a JP rifles lowers side by side and there is very little difference visually. the JP Rifles was liek $200 the rest all fell in between 150-200
can you tell the quality without using them in a rifle? i figure they all use the same alloy and some might even be from the same manufacturer with a different logo on them. How do you know until you've used one to the point of breakage? they aren't moving parts. is there a difference? I'm not trying to be a smart ass or anything i was curious to what makes one lower better than the next besides actual use and the parts response to that use? (btw i went with DPMS. it was less expensive.) |

Those are all things that set manufacturers apart. QFT! I was going to take back to back pics of my Mega and Oly and show the differences. But I can't find my camera... 
But I did take some measurements... Where the Oly upper and lower meet, there is a .004" step. Same place on the Mega is .0004" The finish on my Oly looks pitted in a couple of areas where the Mega is smooth as hell. The Oly BCG looks like wood almost from the machining. RRA and YHM BCG are VERY smooth. No marks at all... |
