Can anyone give me feedback on the Ace Skeleton Stock? I'm interested in using one for a 20" long range AR. I like the fact that it's a little lighter than an A2 and has the foam covering on the buffer tube for a soft cheek weld.
The only thing on them I found when searching was that someone's Ace SOCOM stock spun on the buffer tube, but I'm thinking that won't be a problem since the Skeleton isn't adjustable. Are they durable? This rifle won't be beaten around, but I still want everything to be able to be beaten around if need be |

I am looking at the same questions you are. I note that Rock River uses this Ace on its Predator Pursuit rifle. I have built a rifle similar to that and am looking at this light weight Ace for it. Best price I have found is from Del-Ton. I about to jump in and buy one since I have not heard any bad stuff about them.
I will be watching here to see any comments. |
| I have had this stock on one of my ARs for years with no issues. Very well built and solid. The only thing you might want to consider is what type of balance you are looking for. Its obviously a very light stock so if you have a longer and/or heavier barrel it may feel a little muzzle heavy. |

I found them on clearance at Midway for $65, but that's without tube, buffer, and spring. All the reviews at Midway seemed to be positive though. I'll definitely have to get it from Del-Ton, as that's the cheapest I've seen them as well. |
| I just put one on a RRA Predator pursuit upper, all went well, Please be careful and patient when installing the foam tube over the buffer assembly. I used a water based lubricant (dont ask me where i got that from lol) to get it started and worked it all the way on. Its easy to rip the foam if not careful. Im happy with the result.. |

This rifle won't be beaten around, but I still want everything to be able to be beaten around if need be I have this one and the shorter entry version of the skeleton and like them both very much for a lite weight stock option. The Socom stocks did have some problems with the stock canting/rotating due to a bad pin design for the adjustment but think the current version has rectified that problem IIRC. |

I run one on my 3gun rifle and it has held up fine for two years. It has been rained on, covered in sand, mud and alot of sweat. I like the cheek weld and it feels solid. Just use soapy water to get the foam on. As far as the balance ya it's a little light in the rear. However, I've never noticed it once the buzzer went off |

I ripped the foam trying to get it on, so I ended up using parachute cord instead.. |

| I've got a short, long, and socom ace stock. I love all of them. As others have stated, they're built very well, unbalance an unbalanced rifle even more (if you're going 20" or longer), and you've got to use lube to get the foam tube on/off. Paracord, as stated, is a great alternative to the foam sleeve. |

I have the ACE Entry stock and I like it a lot. I decided to forgo the foam and instead used 550 chord. Goves me a comfortable cheek weld and won't tear with heavy use. Also matches my CASV-ELG. http://photos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs141.snc3/16878_237590957547_527977547_3413581_8346810_n.jpg Looks awesome! How many feet of cord did it take to wrap that up? |
