So, I am in a ban state and would like to build an AR15 after seeing one my good friend just pieced together.  He is running an ARFX ACE stock and it seems pretty nice.  My question though is what else is available for us ban state guys?  I know you can pin basically any adjustable stock out there but what about the direct from the mfg non adjustable stocks?  This will be a pinking rifle... no home defense duty or long range shooting (100yds max most likely).

The only other one I know of is the Vltor Modstock.

Because it's not very common to see the rifle version.

RRA has many different models, including a fixed CAR stock and wood A2 style furniture available, as well as the ace skeleton and the magpul prs

Just a note ( I'm in NY) that the Vltor Emod is a VERY easy stock to pin and you won't even see it, I did it myself.

LMT also sells a ban compliant SOPMPOD stock kit. FWIW I pinned all my stocks myself and you cant tell where or how it was done. Its not hard to do at all.

If I were to ever go back to a fixed stock, it would be an ACE ARFX-Entry stock.  Using it with a DPMS stock extender and the different buttpads available you get a fair bit of room to adjust it to just the right length.  I ran the regular ACE ARFX for a while and found that I had to blade my body a bit too much when using it, I prefer a shorter stock.

Here's a pic someone posted here on the board to show what I'm talking about, regular ARFX top and ARFX-E with extender on bottom.

Do you believe these Bushmaster's "Skeleton" stocks are the ARFX's made by ace?

ACE uses some kind of foam to cover the buffer tube, not sure what kind it is, but it's more durable than you would think.  Replacement foam is fairly cheap, or you could wrap it in paracord.

So I might be going with the Ace Entry Length stock for my build.  Can someone explain how the DPMS stock extension installs?

Oh, and FYI... I am 5'6

Thanks.  I think I might have to upgrade my membership so I can read that whole thread.
