If you're ordering from the shipper, pay the shipper for all expenses but the transfer. Pay the FFL for the transfer and associated transfer fees <if any, in your area>. Good luck, post pix of your build. Yeah what he said,But talk to your FFL first and see if he is cool about it, how much he will charge ya to do the transfer.have him FAX the copy of his FFL to the place you are getting the lower from. I have heard some guys say their FFL charge them sales tax, no on that .He ain't selling it just doing a transfer, ie 4473 paperwork. The seller should have some info on mentioning your FFL address/info etc. |
| Be sure you have talked to an FFL dealer. I ask mine and for a stripped lower he wants $50.00 transfer charge. Also he won't sell without charging sales tax. He said if I can't make $50.00 dollars it insn't worth his time. Also if you but a gun like on gunbroker and my price is over $500.00 he want's $75.00. I said I wil check some place else. |

My FFL charges $25 for a Title 1 transfer and $120 for a Title 2 transfer. They're great folks. I talked to them before ordering a gun once, asking to get a signed copy of the FFL to send to the vendor, and they did all sorts of research to see if they should already be on the vendor's list just to save me the trouble. ALWAYS talk to the FFL first. Ask if they can get what you're looking at quicker/easier/cheaper before ordering it yourself. If not, find out their preferences. It is a Very Bad Thing to alienate a licensee that you want to handle business for you.
When my penny pot is full again, I'm going to my guys and ask if they can get me one of those Texas-made Sterling carbines... |

Yes you make a very good point that i did not mention on not alienating your FFL.I go in mine often and buy stuff like bullets, primers, sometimes powder for reloading.Hang around and BS a little. Mine charges $35..oh and he sold some handguns on consignment for me and made a few bucks.. |

My FFL charges me $35 plus tax for transfers. But he gives me a break (charged me $20 for the second) when I'm transferring more than one at the same time. I'll get to find out what he'll charge me for 3 on Wednesday when I pickup a Norinco 213 pistol with 2 mags in a carrying case, a stripped Norinco 213 receiver (not modified for a safety), and a Coonan type 3 FAL receiver Sarge |

thanks for the info, i called a local guy here who has a small shop out of his house. and he told me 20 to trans and just tell him where to e-mail or fax the ffl to. so it looks like im just waiting on my paycheck. i guess its simple as that. I have the same deal as well, and that's about as good as you can get it. My FFL just shoots me a call when something I order comes in, and I head over to his place to sign the paperwork and pay the $20. Of course I have to try making it out of there without wanting to buy one of the guns he has on display ;) |
