So I currently have a 20 inch A2 HBAR. I am very happy with it, except that it is heavy. And long. And sometimes I want to play with optics. I am seriously considering parting out the upper, and going with the 16 inch Delton midlength. If I do it, I will keep the A2 stock (I am 6'2"+), and will have a flip up (probably ARMS) rear sight, and maybe the Bushnell copy of the Trijicon. I am thinking I can do the upper trade almost revenue neutral (the Del-ton, w/o B/BC/CH is pretty freaking inexpensive). Then, I am on the hook for a couple hundred bucks worth of new sights, and probably trade my Tactical Intervention sling for something different - probably either a Vickers 2 point or a quality single point (and another piece of hardware).
Does this sound nuts? And if not - anyone want a good deal on an Armalite HBAR upper? shooter |

Why not just buy an upper and barrel to swap back and forth between midlength and 20" HBAR.
I'm in sort of the same situation, an A3 HBAR but want an A3 midlength. To go cheap I may just rebarrel to midlength and buy another upper later on when affordable. The problem being that M4s and midlengths are "all the rage" right now and HBARs are not. When I bought mine, the HBAR was the popular upgrade to the standard barrel. I wish I'd spent the extra $50 for barrel fluting. You may not get as much as you want for the top end you are trying to sell. I wish you luck in your effort. |
