| Does anybody know what current typical prices on stripped lowers are at the gun shows? I'm specifically looking in Colorado but all around the country would be interesting and I'm sure beneficial to other folks. I've been lurking here for a while looking for info for my first build but this is my first post. |

| This weekend in Novi (suburb of Detroit) MI it was similar. Stripped lowers for $160-$220 (308 for $300), lots and lots of DPMS and Bushies for $1500, Colt 6920s for $1800-$2200. I figured these people (1) haven't yet gotten the memo that prices are falling, (2) were truly in love with their merchandise to the point where they wanted to take it back home or (3) got stuck paying such outrageous prices that they'll never be able to make any money from anything they bought in the last 9 months. I felt bad for the vendors... but certainly not bad enough to buy. Only good thing was plenty of ammo for decent (not good, just decent) prices. |

I shopped guns shows 25 years ago and they were great for bargains then. Now, the small guys can't afford $45 table fees and $110 room rents for two nights, it just about eats any profit. So, only storefronts are there, and they price the same as off their shelf back home. The hobby traders on all on the auctions now.
The internet is where the bargains are. Vendors on this forum sell for less than the shows - figure your shipping, tax and FFL to make it fair. An $89 Spikes lower with $10 tax and $10 fee is $109 - saving $16 from the quoted show, your gas, food, and impulse buying. (How many times have we said, Hey, that looks cool! and it had never previously entered our mind.) With entry fees at the show as high as movie tickets, I only go for the entertainment value. I got my lower from a vendor here. I'll do the same with most the rest. This is the real gun show now. |
| gun shows are stupid to go to for AR parts anymore, I just go now to look at shotguns and bolt actions, buy your stuff online, sooooo much cheaper. a spikes lower with shipping and ffl fee costs me a whole $115, not to bad for an awsome lower, now if you really want something cheap, get an aero precision lower with lpk, for $125 and get the upper for $65, shipping is like $15 and ffl fees should cost more than $25 so for a little over $200 you get a semi complete lower and an upper, not to bad... |
| In South Western PA I've been paying $100 for RRA stripped lowers and $70 for DSA Arms. I've also been getting RRA upper receiver assemblies for about $100 as well. Prices on stripped lowers have been pretty good at the shows as of late. A local place where I typically purchase most of my stuff wants $250 for a stripped S&W lower, which I personally think is insane. Another show coming up here in December and I'm hoping my favorite vendors are in, to add to my pile of unbuilt shit! |
| im in Pittsburgh, and i know the show your talking about, either im blind or what not, but the cheapest recievers ive seen between the expo mart and the greensburgh show, was like $115, then the guy wanted tax and then 5 more for the transer, the people selling stuff at these shows are redicus as well... |
| The show I speak of is at Washington County Fairgrounds, sometimes there's a lot of junk and garage sale type stuff. I typically buy from Stubby Gear and Dennis A. Todd(they don't show up much). Stubby has the stripped RRA lowers for $99, and the upper receivers for not much more. When they were in last, he hadn't received his shipment or RRA, so I picked up a DSA Arms stripped lower for around $70. I don't make it out to the Monroeville and Greensburg shows, they're kind of a hike. Where in Pittsburgh are you from? |

Orlando Gun Show this weekend, ARmalite stripped lowers for $150, Spikes was selling their plain janes for $65 OTD, with LPK installed for $115. Parts were cheaper, Ammo & components plentiful. Lots of $700 AR's available. Saw AR-10's for 1300+. Still lots O' hopeful folks with ridiculous prices though. Life is looking better in AR land. Now if I just had some money to spend! |
| Yep I just got home from the Orlando show. Took my second build AR to sell, would have had to give it away. Too many dealers selling big name stuff for less than what I wanted for mine. Saw some 604 uppers, $250 each of course ! Oh well saw lots of junk, heard lots of BS from sellers. I did score the three prong FH I wanted, and just installed it. One guy had an A1 buttstock no trap door and he was asking $55.00 !! just the stock. Kevin62 |

The Gun Shows in Abilene Tx I have not seen anyone selling lowers or any AR parts. The price's on everything are still high dollar and they still think folks are still panic buying.
We have another show Dec 8th but i'm am not expecting any better but would be nice to find some deals. |

Gun shows here in KY are crazy. Some of these guys didn't get the memo. They will ask $400 for a lower, $195 for a stripped lower, etc. Local shops have RRAs every day for $119 plus tax. Centerfire Systems in Lexington sells lowers for $79 to $89 or so. Bud's Guns has S & W for like $149 as regular price.
If I want to go to a gun show I have to pay $6 to park, $10 to get in. So, I waste housr of my time and nearly $20 to go inside and be insulted by dealers who are six months behind on what is going on. I get tired of hearing their BS about how stuff is impossible to get and I better pay their prices or miss the chance to buy parts. Its cheaper for me to just drive to local shop when I need a lower, or order uppers and parts on-line. I have not seen a good deal on AR parts at gun shows much lately unless M and A happens to be there. |

Geez! I guess we have it kind of good, Spikes 15 to 20 minutes away, with Tactical Weapons Solutions across the street, Tactical Machining 30 minutes away in Deland, Knights Armament 40 away in Titusville and Anvil Arms an hour away in Lakeland. Cheap lowers and LPKs all around! Sound like some of you Northern folk need a Family Vacation! |

I'm not sure if Tanner in Colorado is the best place to buy AR stuff. I paid $178 for my Spikes Lower only because I was hurriedly trying to slap my first build together and was trying to get as many of the parts as I could at the show. Should have waited and ordered online, would have saved some $. I won't mention the other baths I took on part purchases there, If I told the complete story of my first build I would run a fair chance of being branded an idiot. |

The first build is a learning process. If you spent a few bucks extra think of it as your tuition fees. Go enjoy your rifle and all the knowledge you gained in putting it together. |

At a show yesterday in Springfield, MO. Prices seemed all over the place. Some guys asking $200 for stripped lowers, some asking $250 for a lower with LPK, and there was a booth selling complete lowers (DTI, DPMS trigger, standard cheapo 6-pos stock assembly) for $185.
I remember seeing a Spike's lower for $150, and I noticed a lot of brands I didn't recognize in the $125-$150 range. As these were from dealers (paperwork required), I don't see any significant benefit of buying at the show, vs ordering online. |

ZX Gun in Goshen Indiana has DPMS lowers with choice of stock for $199.99. They are at most of the gun shows around here too. Funny, last show I went to they were selling tons of them next to a guy with a Colt A2 marked at $1750 and no customers. Plenty of $500+ WASR's at this show, along with a beat Enterprise FAL for $2k. Several RRA / Bushy / DPMS plain-jane guns in the $1300 or so range. To be fair, the same could be found on other tables for $800-ish. It just appears that prices are all over the place right now. |

Too many jerky sellers and junk dealers seem to have ruined them. |
| Well, I think I just went to my last gun show. What a bunch of crap! The cheapest lowers I found were $130 plus tax. Those were at one dealer who had Spikes, Roggio and Del-Ton all at that price. The DPMS and Bushmaster were $150. Another table had Spikes for $165! I did run in to an acquaintance that I didn't realize was an FFL. He's getting several Spikes lowers in and they are priced at $110 which is better than I can do online after figuring shipping and FFL fees. |
