I am new to building. Do I need a new bolt and carrier if I switch uppers? I have an a2 and want to go a3. Can I buy a stripper upper and use the a2 parts or do I need an a3 upper parts kit?

All you need is the flattop upper receiver. And tools. And a rear sight.
