I've assembled my own lowers before and I'm ready to take the dive into assembling upper receiver assemblies.
What kind of tools will I need? I have some ideas, but I'd appreciate some specific recommendations on: 1) Upper action block, suitable for installing & removing barrels 2) Lower action block 3) Armorer's wrench 4) Torque wrench (ft/lb and in/lb) 5) Upper receiver lapping tool 6) Carrier key staking tool 7) Roll pin punches |

I have some ideas, but I'd appreciate some specific recommendations on: 1) Upper action block, suitable for installing & removing barrels Brownell's clam shell type - I also use barrel clamps for this 2) Lower action block Brownell's (w/above) If you are doing billet uppers go with the Blox Work from Spikes 3) Armorer's wrench Military rectangular style wrench - Brownell's 4) Torque wrench (ft/lb and in/lb) Sears - I use the cheap beam one( lifetime gaurantee) for ft lbs. For inch pounds I use the Fat Wrench. They were on sale at Midway a few days ago. 5) Upper receiver lapping tool Midway has the better price 6) Carrier key staking tool Moacks if you want to spend money - hammer and punch for the inexpensive way 7) Roll pin punches You only need the gas roll pin and the F/A punch There are many choices and these are the ones I use and have been happy with. Also, I would add the orange FSB block from Brownell's to your list. |

You're right.
Just figured that someone with that post count had read some the things he responded to. And might remember opinions shared with, or by others. This site is full of all kinds of info. You just need to read some of the post's as opposed to just stating your opinion. The search function does work. Some should try it

As long as your upper is a flat top I would use the BLOCK-WORX…
