Hi Guys,
What buffer do I use with a midlength gas system (16" barrel)? I hope to use a MagPul ACS stock, so, it's a mil spec tube, but, what spring and buffer? Rifle, carbine, standard - what's the right selection and terminology? Who's a recommended supplier of tubes, springs and bufffers? Thanks for your help. Dan |

If you need all the stock mounting hardware:

I've read people have good results with both (I've got an H in my in progress middy build). If you have the receiver extension mounted, you'll need a Carbine action spring and the buffer of your choice. They're on this page: http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/M4-and-CAR-Stocks-s/72.htm |

Quoted: Quoted: The heavier buffer will slow down the cyclical rate of the rifle, what it the advantage? Does it make it more accurate? No accuracy advantage, it reduces felt recoil a bit. I have an H3 on my middy build. Noticably less kick. Does your bolt lock back every time w/ the H3 buffer? (When the mag is empty of course.) |

Dan It looks like, for the Magpul ACS Stock requires a Mil-Spec "Carbine" reciever extension, so you would need a "Carbine" buffer and a "Carbine" Spring. The gas length of the upper has nothing to do with stock. Magpul PRS stock, then you would need a "rifle" length receiver extension (A1/A2), a "rifle" buffer, and a "rifle" length spring. |
