All:

I finished my build a few months ago and have been gone from the forum for some time. I'm starting to help my brother get his AR put together. Is it still insano world out there for BCG's and barrels or has the supply caught up with demand?

Thanks.

It's pretty normalized, and some stuff is actually getting cheap because of the economy.

Check Bravo Company for BCG's, uppers, and barrels.  They've had stuff in stock almost constantly lately.

+1  for Bravo. Also check out Spike's. Things are a lot better than 6 months ago.

I'm gonna go ahead an give Spike's a little time to spend all that money they made off jacking prices on customers right after the election.

Something about canceling orders placed at pre-election prices, and trying to force them to re-order at their new post-election prices didn't sit well with me.

They made a quick buck, at the sacrifice of some loyal customers.

Spend your money wherever you like, but they're not getting any more of MY money for a LOOOOOOONG time.

I suspect things will get even better as supplies increase and pass demand. We haven't topped out unemployment yet, disposable income is being held tighter, etc.

I bought a lower from AGP with engraved flag, adjustable trigger screw, and pictograms for less than $90 landed cost at the FFL, a CMT/Stag lower parts kit from Lonestar for $65 on my dresser (better looking parts than photos on line or in books.) So far I can have an assembled lower (no stock) for $155, plus dealer fee.

There's an Essential Arms stripped lower at the gun dealer, $150. Somebody will buy it. Not me.

You can't count on any one place being "Always the Low Price!" You have to shop it. Keeping linked up with more than one source of supply or even (gasp!) more than one forum can hook you up with the inside track on stuff. I found these deals in posts, not the sale categories. They were feedback from happy customers.

Try as some merchandisers do to make the public aware of their stuff, it's when you work at it, surf, search, and lurk that you find the great deals.
