Is there a source where I could get just some of the tungsten weights that are used in buffers?

I don't see a point in replacing a whole buffer when I can just push a roll pin out of mine and change out the steel weights for tungsten ones.

I cannibalized my AR-10 carbine buffer of its tungsten and dropped them in my Ar-10 rifle buffer and went from 5.5oz to about 8. I'd like to find a few more so I can make the carbine operational again and possibly play with the rifle buffer weight more.

Thanks

Try here:  McMaster-Carr

Or, check your local fishing supply store for tungsten sinkers - they come in many sizes.

Just buy the complete buffer assembly.  Quick, easy, and you won't have to hassle looking for the parts.  I have never seen internal replacement parts for buffers available anywhere.

I'm sorry but I don't see the reasoning behind paying $120 for a buffer when 5-10min and $12 will yield me the same result.

Slash's ar-10 rifle H buffer is $120 I believe and the only one I believe is available for that application. A standard ar-15 rifle buffer or even a H-buffer won't fit and is too light I believe.

I might try some tungsten powder. It would be easier than trying to find tungsten rod the same size as the factory weights, I'm just going to have to check on the density and the volume in the buffer.

I found a place where I can get 9 ounces for $21.

Grind up some of your own Tungsten.  Always wanted to do that, but haven't gotten around to it yet.
