I think that one would work, but will not cover the old pin slots. If everything's underneath the rail and out of sight, it might not matter.
There are other low-profile gas blocks that might cover those spots. For example, check out the one from Daniel Defense. Just be aware of whether your new forend will have bolt-on rails that require backing plates that could potentially interfere with some gas blocks (but likely not with the one you pictured). |
| +1 on the DD gas block...it's low profile and covered the pins scars on my 6920. If you don't like the DD brand check out Rainier Arms...they have a nice selection of various types. Their prices are good and CS is top notch...9 times out of 10 a real human voice answers after the 2nd or 3rd ring. |

it will work just fine, I have used 4 of them on different builds with no problems have you used them on rifles that previously had an A2 installed? everyone, thanks for all the help thus far... to clarify a few things... this is a 16" barrel with a carbine gas system. i am going to put a rifle length YHM customizable hand guard. i do not care if the old marks are covered or not so the DD one is probably going to be a no go. if i was looking for something that mounted simlar to the A2, i would find an A2 and chop it. i will probably just shoot them with some black spray paint or i may even camo it. i just want to make sure that i dont order a gas block with set screws only to find out the set screws line up with the old pin slots. |
