| do u need to use High Velocity ammo in a 22lr complete upper. i want to get one but would prefer to use any type of 22 lr ammo..thx |

In my experience with 22 conversions, plated std velocity ammo, such as Federal Bulk pack works the best. Federal Auto-match seems to be a bit more powerful, and more consistent.
You can get bolt bounce with some of the higher velocity stuff, resulting in jambs. Then you can put a heavier spring in, and make it work with that ammo, but then it will short cycle the lighter stuff. SAme applies with light ammo - lighter spring works great for that ammo, but won't work with heavier stuff. You're ballancing the spring pressure/bolt mass against the power of the 22 shell. Bullets with "wet or greasy" lube seem to attract a lot of dirt, and jamb. |
