In my experience with 22 conversions, plated std velocity ammo, such as Federal Bulk pack works the best.  Federal Auto-match seems to be a bit more powerful, and more consistent.

You can get bolt bounce with some of the higher velocity stuff, resulting in jambs.  Then you can put a heavier spring in, and make it work with that ammo, but then it will short cycle the lighter stuff.  SAme applies with light ammo - lighter spring works great for that ammo, but won't work with heavier stuff.  You're ballancing the spring pressure/bolt mass against the power of the 22 shell.

Bullets with "wet or greasy" lube seem to attract a lot of dirt, and jamb.

There is a .22 Ammo guide posted in our industry section.

doesn't have to be high velocity.  "remington golden bullet" will not work. (From all my experiences).  The cleaner the better.

X-Sept the Remington.
Federal's cheaper, CCI more consistent.
