I want to remove a VTAC outer receiver nut (the part the hand guard tube attaches to) from a barreled upper that was installed using red Loc Tight. Is there any problem heating the upper in an oven to breakdown the Loc Tight? Is 500 degrees the correct temp?

Yeah there is. Use a pocket torch or something else.

I think a heat gun is a popular choice to break-down the Loctite.

Heat gun would be the safest way. Won't hurt the finish. Mike
