I have a Spikes Tactical stripped lower with a No Name LPK purchased from the same FFL. Following the Brownells videos for my build I ran into a problem at the point of installing the selector. As you can see in the picture there is about a 1/32" portion of the trigger above the lower portion of the hole for inserting the selector. It is blocking insertion. Recommendations?

... That's strange... On closer inspection, it appears your hammer is cocked.

Something is out of spec, if that's the case.

Try inserting the safety selector THEN installing the trigger and hammer.

Had the same problem with a EA lower and noname LPK.  Had to put it in a vise and took .025 off on a surface grinder and it's gtg.  Don't wanna take off more than you have to or the safety wont work.  Was my first assembly.  Comments from experienced assemblers?

I had this problem too. I believe it was a problem with the trigger spring incorrectly installed thus not allowing the trigger to be forward enough to slip the safety in. Check that out before grinding anything.

When I installed my LPK (STAG) in my lower (Sabre Defence) I had to wiggle the safety in there with a little bit of force.  Check to make sure everything is installed correctly (springs) and then try to wiggle that sucker in there before you start grinding.

I've put 5 Spikes lowers together recently using various LPK's and didn't have any problems. That's strange. Hopefully something that can be remedied without use of a grinder.

Without having it in my hands, I couldn't say for sure but the lower would be suspect.

I had this problem, it was blocked with the hammer cocked too.  After cocking the hammer I pulled the trigger forward and there was just enough room to get the selector in.  It was a standard trigger so if you have a tighter after market trigger it might not work.

It seems Spike's has had a few out-of-spec lowers recently... If you have another rifle, you could try the parts in it and narrow down what is out of spec.

Thanks for your response everyone. I have a second lower but it is sequentially numbered so if the problem is there it probably is in both. I do have a DPMS PK I think I will try that trigger first and see what happens.

Problem solved. When I removed the hammer the trigger cleared the hole. I inserted the selector and reinstalled the hammer using the clearance in the fire position to seat and pin it.
