Thanks I asked the same question about the Spikes lower just last week. I was told that is was GTG ( Good To Go ) So I believe it is a good brand! I recently purchased a Spikes stripped lower for $129 and an RRA collapsible stock retails for about $75 (I think). Mine is an AR15. |
| The Spikes lowers are great! I have a few of them, and they are some of the better lowers I've ever had. I got mine for $100 ea. during the group buys last year, but the last time I checked out their Website, they were going for $179 or something. Seems kinda high, even for receivers as wonderful as they are. |

Spike's is awesome. Fast shipping, great customer service, and great equipment.
When I picked up my lower from my FFL, he had a Doublestar lower there and I can say that there is no comparison. The finish, both machining and anodizing, on the Spike's lower far surpass that of the Doublestar. http://omploader.org/tMXFxbg http://omploader.org/tMXFxcQ |

Completed my 3rd build using a Spikes lower about two weeks ago. After it's maiden trip to the range I've got no complaints.
Got mine for $150 HERE.

I've picked up two of them with the hope of matching the spider on my Spike's (Young's NM) bolt. Yeah, I know this is silly in many builders eyes. They are beautiful and the finish is top notch. That said, they are far and away the loosest fit when matched to the DSA uppers I've been using. I've used a variety of other lowers (BushMaster, RockRiver, DPMS, Armalite, LAR and a few others). An AccuWedge wouldn't begin to take the slop out. I know as well as the next guy that this isn't grounds to pitch the Spike's lower but all else being equal and given the choice I'm using the tighter fitting piece. In fact I've done just that. One could certainly point their finger at the choice of uppers I'm using but I haven't had similar issues with the other lowers I've used. I purchased 10 of the DSA uppers at the same time, they're about gone. I sold one of the Spike's and I still have one. I'll try it on other brand uppers as I come across them. It's likely that I'll come across an upper that fits it well in the future. |

I would be more than happy to inspect the lower to make sure it is within spec. |

I understand this and was not trying to disparage Spike's, it just so happens that is the way it turned out with the pair I picked up. I like the parts I've got from Spike's and like the roll mark better than any other. I would imagine the lower I have left probably falls within specs. I suspect however it is on the far side of the tolerance. Consider how many times you see someone making the "it's loose" comment. I would think that the majority of these parts too fall within spec. I appreciate your offer but as I said I'm sure I'll find a piece to mate it with that will be perfectly acceptable sometime in the not too distant future. |
