What can I use to tighten the castle nut on my carbine butt stock if I don't have the tool?

Adjustable locking pliers with a towel or other soft barrier in between... carefully of course.

But the right tool for the job, even the cheap small ones, makes it a lot easier on both you and the gun.

You can try a strap wrench but you would be better with a tool specially made for it.

So, I stopped at Gander Mountain yesterday, and picked up The wrench in this pic, but it doesnt seem to quite fit.  It's too narrow, like it needs to stretch to line up with a hole in the nut on the other side.  Is this normal??

This may be a dumb question but you are sliding it down the buffer tube into the castle nut slots right?  It should be a fairly tight fit and I've never heard of the RRA wrench not fitting. Same one I use.

No ... actually, didnt think of that.  I was trying to come down from the top onto it.  Will try that out when I get home, thanks.

This....or a pin punch and hammer. Worked for me until I purchased an Armourers Wrench.
