I would like to hear from anyone using Krieger barrels in either their offered 223 Remington or 5.56 Match chamber choices. I would like to know what bullets you have successfully shot out of the chambers and with what results. Krieger offers a 223 Remington in 1:9" twist or 5.56 Match in 1:7.7" twist. I will be shooting most 52 - 75 grain bullets at 100 to 200 yards (sometimes to 600 max), which would probably be reasonably well served by the 1:7.7" barrel. But, Krieger says this has a long lead (for 80 grain bullets), and wonder how well the 52 grain bullets will shoot out of this. Krieger's 223 Remington chamber will handle up to 69 grain bullets.
Perhaps I just need to decide whether to side with lighter or heavier bullets and not try to stradle the middle ground. It would help to know other's experience with these two chambers. r distances (rare) or to better handle any wind. I would probably be best served with 52 - 69 grain bullets, which Krieger says is best handled by a 1:9" twist and the 223 Remington chamber. Surprisingly, Krieger was not of much help in describing their chamber differences. I would consider Compass Lake or White Oak, but lead times are into August. - Phil |
