| Can anyone give me a good way to install the roll pin in the A1 sight assembly? I just cracked the windage knob when trying to get the pin in. Not a huge deal, but now I have to wait for another assembly to come in and I will be more than upset if I do it again. Also, the spring and detent seemed really tight, should I trip the spring down some? |

Put the lower portion of the windage knob in a padded bench vise so the protrusion (the part the pin goes in) is resting on top of the vise jaw. Hold the pin with needle nose pliers and tap it in with a small hammer enough to get it started.
Install the screw and center the aperture in the receiver. Orient the sight screw so the pin hole is vertical. Use a small drill bit (by hand) to make sure the spring/detent hole is clean of burrs. Lube and install the spring and detent. Press the windage knob with pin onto the screw. You can look into the bottom to see if the screw hole is aligned with the pin. Carefully tap the pin in with a small punch. |
