The order I placed 8 weeks ago arrived in 7 weeks (edit: I was told it would take 8 weeks!!) so I was surprised to see it at my door step yesterday evening. Upon opening it up reveled a 10.25 barrel, front sight post, spring & detent, gas tube, BGC & charging handle but no pistol buffer kit. Also there was no packing list. I did find a credit card receipt sandwiched in between the shipping label & the box so I know they charged me for the missing buffer kit.

I started assembling the upper & discovered they had sent me a pistol tube instead of a carbine tube so I can’t even complete the upper. I had planned on stealing a buffer assy from one of my rifles until I got the correct pistol set up but the gas tube issue shot that in the ass. I can't blame Model 1 100% for the gas tube. I did order the pistol length tube but that was only because the woman who took my order over the phone told me that was the correct tube to use for a 10.25 barrel. I'll share the blame for not conducting better research before ordering.

Of course I could not reach them on the phone Friday evening so it will be until Monday to see if  I’ll need to wait another 8 weeks to get the missing parts to my order. I think this will be a true test of Model 1's customer service.

Cross your fingers for me

Can anyone tell anything good about their customer service?

I have built several Model 1 kits, as well as placed multiple small parts orders,  any time I have had a problem they have been a stand up operation as far as correcting the issue.

i have ordered a few times that last couple months, and i call them the first 30min when they open and get through usally in a few mins.  i found out that calling to place orders is better then you hear exactly what your getting.

I have bought ftf from them at shows and one time the credit card machine was tits up (or so they thought). I paid cash and the next Monday after looking at my debit card activity I noticed a debit of $425. It took one call and it was fixed by COB. They were sorry and meant it so I hold ZERO hard feelings. I'm sure they will come through for you in the end. Here's hoping they can expedite your parts. SS

I'm not sure if I followed the whole story correct but I don't think I would put a normal buffer tube on your pistol lower unless it has been SBR'd.  Unless of course you were stealing a buffer tube from another pistol build then that would be fine.  Buffer tube that can accept collapsible stock + PISTOL lower and 10" barrel = bad idea

Model 1 has always been good people, and they have always done right by me. Understand that they are under a heck of a load right now though, so cut them a little slack.

Update... I called Model 1 this morning, got through on the first try, and they said they would have the missing items sent out today or tomorrow at the latest. Sounds good but when I have the parts in my hand, I'll be convinced.

M1S won't sell you a SBR "kit" without some paperwork.

Never mind, read your original post wrong - took carbine tube to mean receiver extension tube, not gas tube.

They sell a pistol buffer kit, which is what I ordered. Alabama is not SBR friendly. Yet.

I bought a carbine kit from model 1 a few months ago and when I finally got my lower to build it, I discovered a mssing roll pin. I contacted model 1 and they sent out the part promptly. I consider them a good company that stands behind their products and offers very fairly priced gear in these days when alot of vendors are gouging. I would not hesitate to order from them again. In fact, I plan to get another kit (lightweight this time) next time they are in the DFW area for a gun show.

Update....

The PIstol Buffer kit & correct gas tube arrived Friday. I really like their pistol buffer kit. The tube is similar to an A2 tube but it is knurled on the reciever end. It came with foam, which I trimed to clear the charging handle. A tip I figured out to trim the foam evenly is to insert a deep socket of the same diameter as the inside diameter of the foam and use the edge of the socket a a guide to trim with a sharp (new) razor blade. I used the cut piece of foam to practice on first.

I ordered an LPK from them and found it missing the disconnector spring and the buffer retainer spring. Called them up and they sent it out the very next day. Im not sure why so many people hate model 1. Seems like they stand behind there product and are willing to help anyway possible.
