So Im new on this site and until I found it I thought that I new a thing or two about the M/16 M/4 series rifle. Just like the last time a president threatened our rights I made getting a new rifle a neccesity. I love the M/4. So I found the parts to put one together. Here is the question. I bought a used upper. The bolt will not stay to the rear. The catch engages is but just barely and any movement will disengage it, sending the bolt forward. Not a big problem but I want this weapon to act exactly as an M/4 would. Muscle memory and all that stuff will alter my shooting whether on the range or in a live fire situation. So does anyone have any suggestions.

Welcome!  It is normal to have the bolt slam home after a jar, assuming there is no magazine to keep the bolt catch engaged.
