I had my eyes on a Vltor MUR1a and the Larue stealth. Both seem to be backordered forever.

That changed my mind to getting a DD A4 stripped receiver... also backordered for months.

Im building a 16" midlength system with hopes to make it as accurate as possible.

Anyone have suggestions for a good upper receiver that is in-stock..anywhere?

appreciate your help.

if you don't want to wait months, you're best bet is to watch the EE like a hawk and also you can try riverofguns.com and pay the markup.  Sucks, but waiting a year sucks more.

Ok, i will keep my eye on that.

As for companies, are there any recommendations?

There seem to be a ton but other than the billet-vs-forge argument, are there any uppers that stand out in terms of precision rifle build ?

I think the billet/forge thing is blown way out of proportion.  I wouldn't sweat it.

As far as uppers go, the Larue Stealth Billet, Vltor VIS's/MUR's, and the LMT MRP platforms are good places to start, but those are top end, top $$$, hard to find components.

I personally went with the Vltor VIS-2A-AK upper because I wanted a single solid upper + free floating quad rail. (and yes I paid through the ass for it)

Thanks y'all.

i guess my order stays the same and will just hop on first available sale.

Have no real experience (first AR build but own other guns) with the below companies..but this seems to be general consensus.

Guess i just keep waiting on the "notification of availability"

1) MUR/Stealth

2) LMT

3) DD

3.5) STAG/CMT

If anyone has suggestions please let me know.
