[ARCHIVED THREAD] - SCOPE MOUNTING - AR15

I'm using Leupold MK 4 mounts and need to know if it's ok to use
65 in pound torgue value. I know it's ok for the rings but is it
ok for the aluminum flat top upper? Will It damage the upper?
Any manufacturers put out any torque values for their uppers? Thanks.

That sounds like way too much. Is that what Leupold recommends? Every scope mount I've put on recommends 20-25 in. lbs.

I think you would be hard pressed to torque the mounts down hard enough to really hurt the upper rail.
