I just got the Noveske "Surprise" Ejection Port Cover and I don't know how to install it.  I saw the tech manual gives a good picture of the springs and the rod holding it in but my upper had it installed already  (Page 273/325).  I don't want to just rip into it and lose a spring or bend something.  Can someone tell me what I need and give me a few pointers?   I'm not in a rush to install this I just want to do it right.
Thanks.

remove the small c-clip from the front of the rod then push/pull the rod towards the rear of the receiver.use your driver's license or credit card or something to protect the receiver from getting scratched from the rod while your removing it towards the rear.it will be tight and need to flex a bit to come out when it gets to the forward assist.just keep your drivers license in between the rod and the receiver.

make sure you see how the spring is installed b4 you take it apart.then install your new port door in reverse order.use your license again when you start to install the rod to keep from scratching the receiver.hopefully you remembered how the spring was.now the hardest part is to get that little c-clip back on the rod without losing it.then your done.

there are a few threads about changing the port door if you look around.

good luck with it.

I tried searching for changing ejection port but that only pulled up three.  wasn't in the ASSEMBLE AN UPPER thread either.  Thanks though.  I wasn't sure if that's all it took or if some spring was going to fly across the room.

Looks good BTW

Ok I did this and mine looks just like yours only now the rod that holds the ejection port in place is able to slide freely back and forth.  I put the C clip on and everything but I can pull it out from the front.

Any ideas what I need to do?

The rod is suppose to but up against the barrel nut when it moves forward, if the barrel nut or whatever rail you have is on, the rod for the ejection port door should hit it and stop before the rear pulls out of the boss it is in.  Did your rod get bent so it moves over the barrel nut?

BTW, do you put a 1/2 turn on the spring or 1and1/2 turn on the spring for pre-load?  I'm NOT asking if you did this, I don't see how it would effect the rod slipping out of the bosses that hold it, I'm asking what is the procedure because I don't know, just want to know when I change out my door when I strip it down for a duracoat project.

Ok, Im back, just installed it, took only a couple min.  Using the tweezers was easy, and I used a folded piece of paper instead of a credit card(to thick).........

First off I don't have a rail yet so thats probably why it will move back and forth.

For the spring I put a half turn.  Just enough to keep it open. It feels the same as the original one. I have a couple scratches from it too :( but it's hidden so I'll forget about them when brass flys out.

One problem though,  On my Noveske upper...This thing won't close.  I have to use an allen wrench and push the button down to get it to close.  I can't even force it.
