| So I picked up a Brownells handguard tool to help me install a KAC RAS M4 set. Worked as advertised but once use cut the rubber coating to the metal. What's up with that, one use?? I figured these would be much more durable than this? I am giving them a call in the morning. Any one else experience this? |
I got a few times use out of my model before it started tearing/wearing the coating. Nature of the beast is my guess, as you want it soft enough not to mar the Delta, yet rigid enough to do the job. Hence the coating. I'd return it as well, but dont be surprised if it happens again soon. Some weld springs are just stiffer than others and can make it a bitch.

My Del-Ton is super easy to remove. I bought the H/G tool to take the guards off of my Colt. Those things are impossible to remove! Even when I was in the Army it took two guys to remove them! So I bought the tool and noticed that it started to lose it's coating.
!!!DING!! I rememberedthat I have this rubber tape(red) that I inherited from my Dad and just wrapped it around the delta before I used the removal tool. I've had my Colt since '93 and I think I've only removed the hand-guards 3 times!

Waste of $ - I use my hands. Thats what I always thought until I got my latest Del-Ton kit. Took me forever to get KAC rail installed. Pansies....use your hands! I use the right tools for the right Job.I sometimes use my hands and sometimes use the tool. It's according to which gun I have. Some are easier to remove than others. |
