I've spent the last 3 days reading this section of the forums and I'm anxious to build me an m4. But I havent seen any left-handed builds. Who makes left-handed lower/upper receivers?

Stag make a lefty AR

But IMO it is not necessary.

I am left handed and have zero issues with a right hand orientated rifle

Well I am not really left handed. I am right handed but I can only close my right eye so I've been forced to shoot left-handed. But if it doesnt bother you then I'll just build a right handed rifle and shoot it left handed. Thanks!

I am a lefty and building a left ar was the best thing iv ever done. Stag is not the only makeer of a lefty ar but thiers is TRUELY a lefty. The ejection AND forward assist are reversed.

Just finished my first lefty build with a Stag prebuilt carbine upper, 5.56 lower (stripped) and a Denny's Guns Lower Pats kit with a 4 lb skeletonized Timney trigger.
I use a wrong-handed M4 at work, wanted to see how much better I could put one together for me- without Uncle Sam telling me NO CHANGES to his weapon.
For me this is a weapon for 0-100m, longer than that I've got time to lay down and make a better impression with a longer weapon system.
Disclaimer- I have XXXL hands- this stuff may not work/matter to you.
First, an ambi safety selector is quite simply the greatest invention since the wheel.  It used to take me forever to get the damn gun on or off safe.  I had been taught long ago that the safety should come off as the weapon is brought up to the shoulder and put back on as it is lowered.  I always did it but it would take forever and usually I'd lose some skin off a finger or thumb during shoots.  Now it's easy.  Like butter.
I put a Magpul MIAD grip and Enhanced Trigger Guard on it.  The 'gap' of a standard trigger guard always ripped up my fingers moving to and from the prone.  I also hate the 'finger bump' of a standard grip.  The MIAD basic kit has the smooth front strap.  Together I think this is as good as it gets for my shooting hand.  The Timney is sweet as hell too, feels really good, nice and thick with no creep and no grinding.  Perfect?  I would say yes.
The only part of this rifle that is still on the wrong side is the Bolt Release/catch.  I put a 'tactical' enlarged one.  Never could understand why the bolt catch half of the lever is the size of a pinhead in the first place- but not being able to see it is just maddening.  So on went this big one- that blocked the ejection port cover from opening.  I was able to grind it down on the wheel, taking off a bit more than I had to to make sure there was no way it would ever interfere with the port cover or ejected rounds.
I also spent the 95 bucks for an ambi mag release.  Which was also totally blocked by the big bolt release.  So I got an oversized Mag release button (Arredondo) that i can easily hit with the heel of my off hand without taking my left hand off the pistol grip for speedy relaods.  It also limits how far the mag release can travel into the reciever (never been a problem, but can't hurt).
Only other lefty improvement I made was to put a tactical latch on the charging handle.  Now I can easily chamber a round without taking my left hand off the pistol grip. Sweet.  Bonus that it doesn't poke holes in my chest when it's slung.  Take that righties.
It's strange to not be able to see the bolt for malfunctions, etc.  I guess that is one plus for wrong handing a gun.   I find myself being extra cautious doing loaded chamber checks, forward assists, etc.  Not bad, just weird.  It was always right in front of me before, now I have to roll the gun to see.
Right now it's stockless and being put back together after some other improvements.   When its back in one piece I'll take some pictures.
I was happy to see Stag making left handed gear and wanted to support them.  So far it's been great.

You'll understand the issues if you ever have the misforune of having a blown primer.

The #1 issue for me is SAFETY.

ETA: To clarify in case of failure the standard AR vents everything out the ejection port on the right side of the rifle.
Look at your BC see those little holes?  Ever wonder what their purpose is?
