I have two stripped lowers (S+W) I wish to purchase only what is most likely to be banned or made even more expensive due to future regulation. I believe this would be the barrel/flash hider assy. I have lost my job, so this is all I can justify right now. I do have one complete AR and many mags and ammo. (FU Umbama)

I desire to complete the lowers with a flat top receiver. As such, I do not want a fixed front sight. This eliminates many standard barrel assys. I want a bayonet mount/gas block and intend to use a flip front sight and removable carry handle.

Please suggest a specific barrel assy that meets these requirements. I am not familiar enough to decifer many of the abbreviations on the EE's, so I need some help from the hive mind.

AR 1-
20" barrel assy, prefer at least a std weight or up to an HBAR. 1-7 Twist. Non chrome lined, no fixed front sight

AR 2-
16" barrel assy, std weight, std twist (what would that be, for up to 62 grain boolits? 1:9?) non chrome, no fixed front sight

thanks for your help!

Yankee Hill Machine makes a railed gas block  WITH bayonet mount that can be put on the barrel of your choice, I'm sure others do also but start there. This gas block will allow you to attach an iron sight also.As far as barrels both of your choices are very popular, almost anyone makes them.Price is a function of quality, so you'll need to decide what you'll use it for....true "match" barrels are very expensive. As far as twist, it depends on bullet weight but right now the 1 in 8 is popular and seems to work well with almost everything. Note that if you're varmint hunting with light bullets that's too fast a twist.
Keep in mind that even "if" a ban comes parts would NOT be affected.....remember parts are just that...."parts".
Don't kill your budget over just parts, now receivers, well, that's a different story!
Good luck and post pics when done!

Yankee Hill also makes a gas block with bayo lug with the folding front site built in. It locks in the up position.

Ok, cool.  I do have two lowers, which is all I expect to need.  I am not in a want buying mode.  I guess I can just buy those YHM parts, because I do feel that they will soon be either banned, become hard to get, or long to wait, or just way more expensive.

Thanks for the ass isstance!
