I am a new member, but have been surfing the site. Its probably just me but I cant seem to find a good list of parts that are needed. I have found prices for a complete lower(DPMS), complete upper(RRA) and for the barrel. what other parts am I missing? Where did you all search for your parts? Thanks in advance and remember I am new to this. Oh and reason for building rather than buying complete rifle is I am on a tight budget.

I actually tried to keep a list:

Sully Trigger Guard                                                1
Lower Parts Kit RRA                                        1
Upper DPMS A3 flat top M4 feedramps                 1
MI SPLP Low-Profile BUIS (rear)                        1

Daniel Defense Omege 7.0 FF rail                        1
USGI Black Sling                                                1
JP light trigger spring kit                                     1

If you're wanting to do it cheap, don't use my list.  But this will give you "some" idea.  Keep in mind that this doesn't include tools, workbench, vises, torque wrench, armorer's tool, etc, etc.....

If you don't have friends that own an AR, I'd recommend buying a used one and learning the theory of operation (how it works), how it's put together, etc.  Then start your own build.  When you're done sell the first one, or, keep it and have two.  You can't have to many AR's.

thanks for the info. not necessarily wanting to do it cheap but with the best products I can find without spending a fortune. I know one or the other. as for the build for the most part the components I found as far as the upper and lower are already assembled. I know there is still a lot to do with it, but I know that even a used rifle at this point will be rediculously priced. as far as tools I should have most and will be happy buying what I need along the way.
