As I'm collecting parts for my first AR, I am wanting to use a YHM free float tube with the screw on end cap.
My question is will the cap work with a rifle length system with the gas block outside the tube? |

Yes, that would work. You'd have to install the barrel and forend first, including the cap, assemble the gas block and gas tube separately, slide the gas tube through one of the holes in the cap (if they line up - if not you may have a problem) then slide the gas tube through the hole in the upper receiver.
After this you could install a muzzle device. |
